Company’s performance in the sixth months of 2013

In July Ukrainian Helicopters summed up Company's performance in the sixth months of 2013.

Grigory Krivoshuja, First Deputy Director General, said that in the sixth months of the current year Company' s performance was stable.

'18 Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters carried out flights in the UN peacekeeping missions in Sudan, the Republic of Southern Sudan, the DRC and Ivory Cost. The total flight time amounted to over 6500 hours. Company helicopters transported 58608 passengers and 1233 tons of cargo."– said Grigory Krivoshuja.

Vasily Holota, Head of the Flight Department, stressed that Company successfully and professionally performed all the UN missions tasks it was entrusted with in 2013.

Vasily Holota, Head of the Flight Department, stressed that Company successfully and professionally performed all the UN missions tasks it was entrusted with in 2013.

The Head of Flight Department informed that in the sixth months of the current year the Company trained seven aircraft commanders to include Storozenko Y.A., Lykov I.V., Kutko JA, Abramovs N.A., Sherstobitov V.A., Efymenko A.I. and Karpenko A.V. Pilots Lobanov P.V. and Peresunko V.A. became aircraft commander trainees.

Nine co-pilots were trained to perform international flights (Kovalenko A.V., Ionov, V.A, Gnitetsky V.K., Tsiganok M.N., Ezhkov V.V., Sokurenko A.N., Krivobok V.M., Steblyanko S.A. and Bondarenko M.I.)
In the sixth months of 2013 Ukrainian Helicopters continued training flight personnel. Training was organized to simulate real operation condition in Africa and training flights in Ukraine.

 

'We have had 18 training sessions with 70 flight hours logged in the first six months of 2013. Furthermore, our pilots were trained to work with external sling, perform night flights and conduct search and rescue flights. The pro bono training flights in the DRC were very useful for our pilots.


 Pilots were trained to operate helicopter at the altitude of 3000 meters. Four Company employees received license to operate at the altitude of three thousand meters and others were trained to operate in the mountains at above two thousand meters' – said Vasiliy Holota.

Personnel

 

As of the beginning of 2013 the number of Company employees amounted to 515 people and now it makes 489 people. 'In the first six months the Company fired 25 people. We are sorry to cut them down but this people didn't live up to our expectations' – stressed Grigory Krivoshuja.

During the six months the Company employed 27 people to include 13 retired officers. Currently there are 328 (67%) former officers working in the Company.

 

 

323 Company employees have University degree.

 

Maintenance service

Grigory Krivoshuja said that Company keeps working on upgrading its aircrafts.


'Recently Company acquired two Mi-8MTV that had been repaired in cooperation with Sevastopol Aircraft Repair Enterprise. This new aircrafts were equipped with modern devices to meet international standards. The Company also continues to install modern equipment on all our helicopters operating in the UN peacekeeping missions' – explained Grigory Krivoshuja.

Taras Ferley, Deputy Head of Maintenance Department, head of Operations, said that the biggest achievement of Maintenance Department in six months this year is installation terrain avoidance system (SANDEL) on the helicopter in the Republic of Sudan and on four helicopters in the DRC.

 

 

 

'Currently eight Company helicopters are allowed perform international flights using BRNAV navigation system, thus improving aircraft performance during the flights. The Company overseas maintenance stations were also equipped with additional tools and control equipment' – said Taras Ferley.

 

 

 

  Personnel training

 In sixth month of 2013 Aviation training Centre organized training under 23 syllabes in compliance with the CAA of Ukraine (There were 12 syllabes in 2012 and 8 in 2011).

During this time 550 employees completed their courses in 63 groups. During sixth months of 2012 there were 508 employers that completed their trainings and in 2011 there were 258 UH employees . 373 people were trained under Company sylabes in 104 groups.

 We paid much attention teaching English to flight-engineer. We are pleased that our employees took their classes Seriously and 29 out of 69 flight-engineers received the highest grade' – informed Viktor Krylov , Head of Aviation Training Centre.

 

 

During this period of time 100 pilots completed their English course (vs 58 people in 2012).

Viktor Krylov also mentioned that Aviation Training Centre started to train employees to work with additional equipment on international flights.

 'This course lasts five days and is useful for them in using modern equipment. In overall, in the sixth months of 2013 we trained 43 people' – added Viktor Krylov.

 

 

Healthcare

Ukrainian Helicopters pays a lot of attention to the state of health of its employees, therefore the Company has set up the medical room in the Head office. 'The room is equipped with all necessary equipment to provide the first aid, if needed. we are going to purchase electrocardiograph soon.' – said senior UH doctor Alexander Bandura.

 

 

Doctor provides medical assistance to the personnel of the Head office and the employees leaving for foreign trips.

 'The room serves as the place to inform our personnel how to take antimalarial pills, explain them personal and public hygiene basics and rules and patterns of behavior in the hot spots' – explained Alexander Bandura'.

 

 

 

Mediccal Service also regularly trains pilots to provide first aid to the passengers while on the missions.

 Company senior doctor stressed the necessity of regular check –ups of personnel working in the UN missions.

'In case of emergency we consult our employees by phone and adjust their treatment abroad. When they come back to Ukraine we do medical check-up. It helps us to monitor the health of our personal' – said Alexander Bandura.

 

 

 

In addition, in June Ukrainian Helicopters Aviation Company became a member of Helicopter Association International (HAI). HAI includes over 2900 members working in rotor wing industry. The HAI membership opens new opportunities for the Companies to attend professional courses, international expositions and expand their international contacts.
